In this video clip, I’m using a medium Isolite mouthpiece (attached to a Kona Adapter 2.0) and a wide HVE tip. This is the setup I used in the past, but only when air polishing. But post COVID-19, this may become my setup for ultrasonic scaling too. DryShield mouthpieces (my preference) can be used in place of the Isolite mouthpieces (now known as Zyris). In the future I will be testing different combos (e.g. DryShield mouthpiece + Nu-Bird suction mirror). I think the key to really minimizing aerosols may be to use two HVE sources. We’ll see. Thoughts?

Good to see you, Mark. I’ve volunteered to go back into the Army, just waiting to hear about orders.
Good luck Donna
I’ve uses nu-bird for 6+ years, and i love it…i’ve loved isolite for sealants, but cost wise, idk if my current office would approve using it on all patients for ultrasonic scaling, but its a great idea!
Hi Mark, Have you ever tried the Mirro-Vac with a HVE saliva ejector adaptor for high volume suction with a mirror? Looking forward to the Dry Shield+Nu Bird video!
Thank you for your experimentation!!
Hi Linda,
I have tried it. Attaching the mirro-vac to HVE does improve performance, but it doesn’t do much with aerosol reduction.
Im a dr from South America , please tell us which size of dry Shield use more for a standard person 5’7 regular mouth
so interested in buy protection for covid.( nu bird is sold out until July ). thank you so much for your work.
