Summary
I’ve used this scaler maybe 10-15 times so far. Overall performance is good. Quality is mid-range. Pretty good scaler for the price. The three negatives so far:
1. Foot pedal is too small
2. Even though it is designed to work with both 25k and 30 inserts, I’ve found the 25k inserts to be too tight. For those who may not be aware, 30k inserts are shorter than 25k inserts.
3. The hand piece and cable are on the heavy side

How are you still liking this scaler? Mine has went out and Im looking for one around this price range.
I’m not having any issues with it, but I much prefer my Parkell Integra which is only $300 more.
One year out on your initial youtube video review do you have any new thoughts or concerns about Beaver Elite Portable Ultrasonic Scaler (Vector)? I noticed your Parkell Integra preference and would like to know why you prefer it? Never had to buy my own equipment, only working 2 days a week.
Thanks!
Hi Julia,
I’ve had no issues so far and it gets used everyday. I like the feel of the handle and the foot pedal on the Parkell more, but with that said I recommend the Little Beaver scaler.
Hello, I have one of these at my new office and it leaks constantly. It is only a few months old. I’ve had several other assistants and hygienists make sure I’m snapping the bottles down correctly but it still leaks. I’m very frustrated with this product. Have you ever had this problem?
There’s a knob on the handle. Make sure it’s tight.
hello, between integra parkell and lil Beaver 2.0 which one is best to be used as a portable device?also between the two which one has the best value? I will be going to client’s home and i need something light and convenient. Thanks!
Both are equally portable. The parkell is the better value IMO.
My dentist is currently looking for a portable ultrasonic scaler. How is this standing up 3 years after purchase? I want to try to find her something that’ll be a good price and something that won’t die in 1 year or so.
I just changed the water pump. It was easy to install and it came with a back up pump. That’s the only problem I’ve had with it so far.
Does the Parkell Integra accept cavitron 30Khz tips?
Yes, it accepts 25k and 30k. I have both myself.
Thanks!
Can you hook up the lil beaver elite to a water supply or do you have to use the reservoirs?.
You can do it both ways
How often do you need to refill bottles? 1 SRP? or 4 prophys? or can you get through a day of prophys? Thanks
If an average day is 2 SRP’s and 6 prophies, the two bottles will most likely last the day.
Hi Mark –
New to your blog, and so appreciate it. Working in perio office for many years and really want the magnorestrictive type ULTRASONIC SCALER for the way it seems to have more power to remove the really adherent calculus during SRP.
Between the Lil Beaver 2.0 & the PARKELL Integra, which one will remove the really adherent calculus?
