My DIY Dental Cart made for less than $30

I work in an office where everything (handpiece connections, air/syringe, HVE valve, saliva ejector valve, space to place instruments, etc.) is at the 12 o’clock position.  The patient chair is only a patient chair.  There is nothing connected to it.  As you can imagine, this sucks for ergonomics.  I work out of 8 chairs (6 in an open bay for pedo patients and 2 in private operatories for adults) and because I move around quite a bit I needed a mobile solution to re-locate at least some items to the 2 or 3 o’clock position.  The first thought that came to mind was to purchase a traditional dental cart on wheels, but those are quite expensive, so I decided to visit Wal-Mart instead where I picked up a few of those cheap Sterilite plastic 5-drawer carts on wheels.  I also purchased a pack of HVE valve and saliva ejector valve holders from eBay and then picked up a few small bolts/nuts from Home Depot.  What you see below is what I came up with and they have been working great for at least 2 years.  One of the wheels snapped off of one of the carts after about 1 year, but that was the only issue.  These carts get rolled around quite a bit in my office.

These are our sealant cart setups. They provide a nice work space on top and all needed supplies are stored in the drawers.

This is my ultrasonic scaler cart. With an internal water source I only have to plug it in. I can roll it easily from chair to chair as needed.

HVE and saliva ejector holders. I just drilled some holes in the cart and bolted them in place.

The top of the cart has enough room for the scaler and hand instruments.
