American Eagle Double Gracey XP Overview

American Eagle’s posterior Double Gracey instrument combines two instruments into one.  It combines both the Gracey 11-12 instrument and the Gracey 13-14 instrument.  The anterior Double Gracey version is the 1/2 Gracey, but it has the 1/2 angle on both sides of the blade, as opposed to just the one found on the traditional Gracey 1/2.  These double Gracey instruments also use the popular XP technology, which means there is no need to ever sharpen the instrument.  I personally don’t hand scale much and only use these Double Gracey instruments ever now and then, but it’s very nice to have them available when I do need them.  I highly recommend the product.

  1. I have these two in all my set ups. They are my go to. I do not have time to sharpen my instruments and these are the sharpest I have used. I have used them 11/2 years and it is time to replace them.
Mark, when do you hand scale?

  2. Heidi,

I hand scale as little as possible! The only areas I need to hand scale on some patients are the tight contact areas, especially the lower anteriors.

  3. Hi, Mark
Thank you for your review of american eagle xp instrument. I’m wondering have you ever tried LM micro-sickle sharp diamond free sharpening instrument? I’m debating which one I should buy. Thank you.
